This Week in Baseball...
...We saw the first 2 big trades happen as the deadline approaches. We saw a team with 110 losses the previous year over take 4th place in the division. We also saw someone having a historical, and powerful, season hit 5 more out of the park. A lot has happened, but with the deadline creeping up, I'd suspect a lot more to happen this week.
The first trade of the week happened right after the Yankees lost to the Mets on Sunday Night Baseball. Yankees gave up 3 minor league prospects, Royals gave up Andrew Benintendi. This was a deal that was put off earlier by New York due to his vaccination status, as they would be heading to Toronto later in the year. Yankees also are still using key aspect Aaron Judge to spearhead the greatest team in the MLB. Judge has blasted is way to 42 HRs, including a 431 ft bomb to walk-off the Royals on Thursday.
At the other end of the AL East, the WS Champs from 4 years ago have tumbled to the division's cellar, and the Orioles, who had lost 110 games the year before, jumped to 1 game over the .500 mark, and take 4th place. I don't think anybody saw this happening, but here Baltimore is, 3 games out of the wild card.
The Mets made a trade of their own, acquiring Tyler Naquin from the Reds, who are probably going nowhere. Sorry Reds fans, the 3-22 start was a tell tale sign.
This week had some trading action yes, but next week might be even bigger, with the 23 yr old phenom Juan Soto up for grabs. I will confirm today that a give away will start on Thursday, and end the following Sunday, so keep an eye out for that. Thanks for reading.
I can't stand the Yankees... but have to admit... I'm really rooting for Judge this season.
